What are your father’s best traits? His worst? The traits you share?
“My father was different.
Not gentle and kind like my mother.
I was always afraid of him. My mother’s
maiden name was Berry and he would say my brother, Deaton, and I were just like
the Berry’s. It didn’t bother me because
I was just as afraid of Grandma McCray as I was my Dad.
“I do know that he had a brilliant mind. If he needed a part for something, he was
overhauling and he couldn’t buy one anyplace, he just made his own. Our son, Jim, had those same qualities.”
