Life Story--It's a Wondrful LIfe--Grandma Anna

Written Saturday, May 3, 2008

What is the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to you?  The worst?

"Being Sealed to my husband and children int eh Holy Temple in Mesa, Arizona.  And later being sealed to my parents in the Holy Temple in Mesa.
"The worst thing depends on do you mean physical, spiritual, or moral.  I have had "worst things" in all of them. Some not by my doing, but what others did to me, which needs not be discussed or thought about ever again."

Life Story--I Hope They Call Me on a Mission--Grandma Anna

Written Friday, May 2, 2008

Did you want to go on a mission?  If so, where did you want to go?

"Yes!"

"I wanted  to go to Nauvoo or Martin's Cove, or wherever they wanted us to go.  We were assigned to the Concho Branch and have been there 13 years and 1 month.  President Kerger said that if we would stay for 14 years we would be caught up with Ammon.  So we have 11 months to go.
"I was their Sacrament Meeting Chorister & Relief Society Chorister, taught the Gospel Principles call, and the 4th Sunday class in Relief Society.  I am now the Relief Society Chorister, the 3rd Sunday Relief Society teacher, and the Music Chairman.  I have taught the Gospel Principles class for 12 and 1/2 years.
"I have told the High Council members and the Stake Presidency I wanted to go on a mission, and their response was, "Where do yo think you have been for the last 13 years?"  So I guess that's where the Lord wants us to be.
"We have had President Ashcroft, President Harding, President Averett, and now President Keeger, and his 5 years are almost up.  So we have had 4 different Branch Presidents.  President passed away while I was in the hospital with heart surgery, so he didn't complete his term.  But they  have all been great men."

Life Story--Cooking--Grandma Anna

Describe your cooking skills.

"I think I have become a good cook.  Everyone loves my stews, pasoles, cakes, cookies, pies, pies, breads;  pickles and canned jams & jellies.  I have a hard time keeping steaks tender, but I can put them in stews & soups and they are fine.  I have made and decorated wedding cakes, but didn't do it for long.  My daughter, Lind, made many birthday, wedding, graduation, and other cakes for people until her hand got so bad with carpal tunnel that she had to quit.  She is an excellent cook of any types of food."

Life Story--Spring--Grandma Anna

Written Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Describe the perfect spring day and activities that you would do on that day.

"I liked to swing on the school swings to see how far I could go.  I never could go clear around the top of the pole like some could.  Later years I liked to work in my yard and plant flowers. For some reason they didn't grow very well, but I did better in the garden.  Once Mr Eddie Waters gave me 6 pumpkin seeds.  I only planted three because I knew they needed a lot of room.  I got 106 pumpkins from them!"

Life Story--Childhood Activity--Grandma Anna

Written Monday, April 29, 2008

Between the ages of 5 and 10, what was your favorite activity?

"In my early school years, playing marbles was my favorite game.  I started with 6 marbles and ended up with a gallon jar full.  No other girls played and the boys could hardly stand me winning their favorite marbles.  I never could run or jump as I spent most of my recesses playing marbles with anyone who wanted to play."
