Life Story -- Your Yard -- Grandma Anna

Written Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Describe your yard.  Do you help with yard work?  What memories do you have in your yard?  Draw a diagram.

At the present time, my yard is nothing but weeds and dirt.  The silt or dirt from irrigation has filled the yard so it is higher than the side walks.  We have tried to get some one with a backhoe to dig it out but they are so busy they haven't been able to.  We used to have a beautiful lawn all around and glowers of all kinds and also many beautiful rose bushes:  Red, Pink, yellow with pink edges, Purple and white, and Orange.  When we had a bad freeze below 0 for over 2 weeks, the flowers froze and so did the pretty rose bushes.  But just grafted roses died and the old red roses still bloom.  They are pretty but not like the hydrangeas.  I love to work in the yard and garden when I came home from work.  We do still have peonies.  They aren't quite as big and pretty as they used to be but we enjoy anything that will grow now.

Life Story --= Temple Attendance -- Grandma Anna

Written Monday, March 3rd, 2008.

Describe your first visit to the Temple.  Which Temple did you attend?  How did you feel while you were there?

"When we first went to the temple in Mesa, Arizona, there were no Temple Prep classes.  There wasn't films to see and hear.  People acted out the parts.  There were foreigners and i couldn't understand what they said.  No one mentions any thing that took place in the temple nor did they mentions doing work for the dead.  It was like a great secret.  I felt a good feeling when I first went, but I feel a stronger spiritual feeling now.  I'm sorry we didn't have temple prep classes back then so a person new in the church would understand the importance of attending the temple.  I love to go to the temple now."

"We didn't have 4H or Girl Scouts, but we did have Primary.  I didn't go to Primary much because of nothing to wear that wasn't made fun of.  We were very poor.  My mom made as many items of clothing as she could.  She was and is a wonderful mother.  It was probably harder and her than us.  She was so patient, kind, and loving."
